Social Media Coop

Social marketing is very powerful, but it does take a lot of time to make it work. You could consider asking your friends to give you a few ‘Diggs’, leave a comment on your guest book, rate your Squidoo page or post a comment on your blog. That might help…

But will they actually help you out? What if they don’t?

Rather than constantly ask your friends to help you or hire someone from eLance or Guru.com to do it, there is a better way.

If we form our own Social Media Coop, and each of us takes a few minutes a day to reciprocate with diggs, posts and ratings, we would have an unbelievably easy time building our rankings in the search engines and building traffic to our site. It’s like having a lot of friends that are willing to help you. You need a few people to Digg your latest post or bookmark your site on Del.icio.us.

You know, I just read a sales letter for a “Web 2.0 Coop” that would cost $147 per month to be a member. What they have stated in the sales letter is pretty much what I have said that we could do here — together — at no charge.

Social Media Marketing ReportThere isn’t a “secret formula” to online success that is exclusive of all else. It’s a smart mix and proper handling of a strategic plan. That’s part of the reason that I wrote the report, Social Media Marketing.

I’ve deliberately left a lot out of this report even though I have well over a hundred pages of notes… because more words won’t necessarily help. It’s in the doing that true understanding comes.

I’d like to invite you to design your strategic plan within a social group that we build together. We have a common interest and a shared goal. Let’s team up and help each other create greater success online.

I’ve actually been involved in Social Media Marketing for nearly two years. I played with it a while before getting more heavily involved, but I’ve learned a lot of ins and outs that could help you ease into the mix, if you haven’t already done so, or if you haven’t had much success with it.

You’ll need to be willing to put your own work into the plan, it’s not something that I can do for you. I’ll be a guide and others in the group will help — and there will be no charge whatsoever. Everyone is welcome.

This will be somewhat unstructured, since I have to work, just as you do, but I do plan on putting out a “goal for the week” that will move you forward in your online endeavors. It won’t all be Social Media Marketing but that will be the main focus. We will discuss other strategies as well, and implement what best suits our individual purpose. You can ask questions, offer guidance in areas that you are knowledgeable in, ask and give advice, set goals and report progress, shout out successes, offer praises to others, invite accountability, and overall, participate as a member of a community interested in each other’s success.

social media marketingSocial media marketing isn’t about the immediate sale. It’s about building relationships, making friends, earning their loyalty and winning their respect. Through these relationships your goal is to become the authority in your niche. The one that people go to when they want or need your advice, services, or products.

If you’re strictly in it for the sale, you’ll learn very quickly that it won’t work. You have to be willing to give, not just take. Contribute, and you’ll be respected. Push and you’ll be rejected.

Be forewarned. The Internet can be an unforgiving place when you’re in the wrong! Web pages, comments, reviews, all those things and more can hang on for years and years.
