Website Content and Functionality

Website content and funtionality desired by US users

eMarketer is one of the newsletter subscriptions that I highly recommend. Read two headlines each weekday, if something interests you, click to read more. Some days I don’t click through at all, but often I do. When I do, I usually find something very compelling and useful, such as the graphs here show.

Each graph also has an article, and yes, it leads to an offer for a white paper or the like, but the article can really start your mind focusing on particular areas that you need to think about to increase success in your Internet marketing strategies.

The graph on the left shows what users of websites really want with regards to your content and functionality. You can see how interactive and social capabilities play a significant role in their wishes.

This is just another subtle hint as to why you need to get involved in social media!

Social Media

social media graphic Blogs are social media, as are communities like MySpace, Facebook, and Squidoo. Forums are social media that have been around forever, it seems. Social bookmarking sites, such as Digg.com, are also social media.

So what’s the big deal about social media? It’s overtaking the Internet due to the fact that it involves people in a conversation. It’s a two way medium, not a static brochure of information. It elicits involvement. People get bored easily when they can’t be involved.

This means that if you’re not looking into establishing some sort of social media into your website, you’re going to be left behind in a big way… and fast.

This blog, which is interactive because you can leave comments, and even bookmark it easily, will help you figure out the way to blending social media into your life, not only on your website, but also in your marketing plans.

Social media marketing is a great way to promote yourself, your website, your offers, and build that much needed and highly sought after traffic.

So stay tuned!
