There isn’t a “secret formula” to online success that is exclusive of all else. It’s a smart mix and proper handling of a strategic plan. That’s part of the reason that I wrote the report, Social Media Marketing.
I’ve deliberately left a lot out of this report even though I have well over a hundred pages of notes… because more words won’t necessarily help. It’s in the doing that true understanding comes.
I’d like to invite you to design your strategic plan within a social group that we build together. We have a common interest and a shared goal. Let’s team up and help each other create greater success online.
I’ve actually been involved in Social Media Marketing for nearly two years. I played with it a while before getting more heavily involved, but I’ve learned a lot of ins and outs that could help you ease into the mix, if you haven’t already done so, or if you haven’t had much success with it.
You’ll need to be willing to put your own work into the plan, it’s not something that I can do for you. I’ll be a guide and others in the group will help — and there will be no charge whatsoever. Everyone is welcome.
This will be somewhat unstructured, since I have to work, just as you do, but I do plan on putting out a “goal for the week” that will move you forward in your online endeavors. It won’t all be Social Media Marketing but that will be the main focus. We will discuss other strategies as well, and implement what best suits our individual purpose. You can ask questions, offer guidance in areas that you are knowledgeable in, ask and give advice, set goals and report progress, shout out successes, offer praises to others, invite accountability, and overall, participate as a member of a community interested in each other’s success.
So, what do you think? Now that you know more details, do you want to join in? If so, leave a comment (click on Comment >> below this post). While you’re here, check out the video I have posted that’s an intriguing way to explain this Web 2.0 / Social Media phenomenon. (See the link in the “Recent Posts” section in the left column.)
To Your Online Success,
Deb Augur (aka MyWebGal.com)

Leave your comment here. Tell us a bit about yourself and what you would like to accomplish. Do you have a website now or are you just starting out? What is the most important thing that you want to learn here? What is your most pressing question for us?

I’m Linda and I have an adsense website (that you helped me with) and a Squidoo lens. It seems to be holding its own on Squidoo but it doesn’t seem to bring a lot of traffic to my site. My question is how does Squidoo and places like that help me get more traffic to my website? I haven’t figured that out yet.
Looking forward to the group here!

Hey Linda! Great, I’m looking forward to it. We need to get more people interested in joining and as soon as that happens we’ll get started!
Here’s to your (and everyone’s) success!

Hi Deb,
Count me in. I also have a site and Squidoo lens that you helped me with and now my site is ranked on the first page of Google for quite a few of my top keywords. I had a site for years before and this is the first time my listing shows up anywhere! I’m ready to do more! Woo Hoo!

How does Squidoo work ? How can I achieve top ranking with it as Sabina has mentioned earlier. Please help
July 27th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
Squidoo is an important web 2.0 property and it can help get higher rankings in search engines, though it won’t do it all by itself. There’s more to do to achieve that. You should also have other web 2.0 properties and all of them should point to the site that you want to rank well for. Also, social bookmarking, commenting on other people’s blogs, and so forth, will together raise your rankings. The key is to target a particular keyword or phrase from each of your web 2.o properties and other efforts. Keep them all focused!

We want more traffic towards our site and ones who are genuinely interested in our products. Can Squidoo help us in that department and how?
September 11th, 2009 at 7:51 am
Social media marketing is another marketing your product effectively. Also the benefit of a better page ranking gives the edge to Squidoo
September 14th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
Resort Home Design: Squidoo can help bring traffic to your site if you build your lens about what you have to offer and include free information of value, such as design tips. It’s not a “build it and they will come” strategy. Promotion is key. And to really see a difference in your traffic you need to employ multiple strategies. Web 2.0, SEO, PPC, JVs, etc.
I can see that people are very interested in building traffic to their sites and need help in figuring out how to do it at little to no cost. It can be done, but if you don’t want to pay with money, you’ll have to pay with time. Take action, track what you do and record results. And most of all keep learning!
September 17th, 2009 at 6:11 am
Building traffic is always a multi-pronged strategy. We found social networking, blogging and build a loyal reader community around it. Squiddo does help too.
September 26th, 2009 at 4:04 am
Its always a comprehensive package that can yield results in promting your website. No one thing will work alone. Even too much concentration on your main keyword can be penalized by Google.
October 12th, 2009 at 4:33 am
ok,I join you now, very funny.

This was posted a year ago, were you gals able to discuss about social media marketing? I am thinking of setting up my own blog, but still hesitant for I might not bring enough traffic to the site to earn me some income.
Please update Deb, I’m interested to join. Thanks!

Hi E-Recruitment,
This is old but seems to be holding popularity. I’m tied up in some product launches right now. I’ll try to get it started up again after the first of the year. Stay tuned!

Social media marketing, and Squiddo is one way of doing it, is a low cost high return mode of building a community of dedicated users.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:19 am
There is no quick fire recipe for success on the net. But a smart mix and proper handling of a strategic plan related to Social Media Marketing must achieve a substantial gain.
November 27th, 2009 at 3:37 am
Squiddo cant be expected to do it all alone. You need other web 2.0 properties as well as, say comments on other people’s blogs to effect a change in rankings.

Squiddo is one of the means to an an end, but for all intents and purposes, not the only means.
December 16th, 2009 at 7:33 am
There can clearly be no one formula for success on the internet. An assortment of ideas together is the key.
December 22nd, 2009 at 6:59 am
Squiddo may not be a magic wand, but can aid and assist in setting up a profitable venture.
